Police have identified a Cambridge man who was found dead inside a vehicle in Puslinch Township earlier this week. Investigators are now treating his death as a homicide.

The Wellington County OPP was called to Wellington Road 32 shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Monday, September 21, following a report about a suspicious vehicle. When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased person inside.

The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Trumaine Kyte of Cambridge. A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help the family

Police say there is currently no evidence to suggest the incident poses a wider threat to the public and believe it was an isolated event.

The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit is leading the investigation with oversight from the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Investigators are also working with the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service and OPP Forensic Identification Services.

As officers work to establish what happened, investigators are asking people who were in the Wellington Road 32 area overnight to check any available dashcam or security-camera recordings.

Police are particularly interested in footage captured between 9 p.m. Sunday, September 20, and 7:30 a.m. Monday, September 21, as it could help identify suspicious vehicles, people or activity connected to the investigation.
