Police were alerted by hospital staff on April 21, 2019, of a four-month-old boy had arrived with unexplained injuries. The infant died of his injuries days later.

After a lengthy investigation, Durham region police alongside the coroner’s office determined the manner of death to be a homicide the cause of death has not been released.

The infant’s father Tristan Daniel Piper, 24 of Oshawa, was arrested on October 21st, 2020, and has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
