The Sûreté du Québec said Arsène Mompoint, 47, was shot several times while at the Green Room, on route 344 in Kanesatake on July 1st. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared deceased.

Police released an image of a male suspect wearing a black cap, grey hoodie and black pants, with his face covered by a grey bandana. The suspect fled the scene in an older model, light coloured, Ford-style SUV.

Mompoint, was allegedly linked to organized crime and street gangs. According to Lapresse.ca, Arsène Mompoint was involved in a meeting at the Green Room two weeks ago and was recently informed that he was no longer welcome on the indigenous territory.
