Durham police are investigating a homicide in Oshawa after an 80-year-old man was found dead outside a home on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

Durham police responded to a call around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, near Mcgrigor Street and Simcoe Street South, where they discovered a man with obvious signs of trauma.

Despite attempts to revive him, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim Bala, a resident of Oshawa. According to reports, Bala had just left the local mosque.

The victim’s son, Sohaib BALA, age 42 of Oshawa has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

He was held for a bail hearing.
