The 2025 Manitoba Homicide Victim List is available here

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on October 17, 2025, Island Lake RCMP responded to reports of gunshots in the community of Wasagamack First Nation. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased 37-year-old male outside a residence.

The death is being investigated as a homicide.

Later that day, Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services, Island Lake RCMP, First Nation Safety Officers, and other community groups assisted with the arrest of Coden Wood, 19, of Wasagamack. He was arrested for Second Degree Murder along with other firearms-related offences. He has been remanded in custody.
