La Loche RCMP responded a report of an altercation at a residence in La Loche on May 22, 2024 at approximately 2:30 a.m.

On arrival police said smoke and flames was coming from the structure. Upon entering the residence, an injured 52-year-old female and an injured 82-year-old male were located. The pair were rushed to hospital where 52-year-old Brenda Toulejour died of her injuries. There has not been an update on the 82-year-old man.

As a result of the ongoing investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, 49-year-old Marty Keith Toulejour of La Loche has been charged with one count of second-degree murder. He is also charged with one count of attempted murder.
