Edmonton police responded to the area of 137 Avenue and 184 Street on the report of an injured youth on May 21st at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, they located a 15-year-old suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. The youth has been identified by Global News as Broden Radomske. On Friday, May 24, 2024, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on the 15-year-old youth. The cause of death was determined to be a stab wound and the manner of death is homicide.

Keith James Landry, 40 was taken into custody shortly after the incident and charged with second-degree murder. Landry, is known to police and is believed to have known the victim.

Update april 23rd 2026:
Keith James Landry originally faced a second-degree murder charge but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter just before his trial was set to begin.

According to Global news, Landry and the teen, Broden Radomske, were walking together with family members and friends in a rural area between Edmonton and St. Albert when the attack occurred. Without warning, Landry pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed the boy in the throat. Radomske died within minutes at the scene. Police later found Landry nearby in a vehicle, where he was unresponsive and under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

During sentencing, the court heard emotional victim impact statements from Radomske’s family and friends, many of whom described lasting grief and trauma. Landry showed little reaction in court and declined to address the judge.

The 14-year sentence was jointly recommended by both the Crown and defence and accepted by the judge, who acknowledged the profound impact of the crime. With time already served, Landry is expected to spend about 11 more years in custody.
