Man arrested in relation to the murder of a 59-year-old man after a day-long standoff in Montreal North

Montreal police responded to the report of an injured man in a hallway of a building at the intersection of Pie-IX Boulevard and Charleroi Street in Montreal North, on February 11th at approximately 3:45am.

The 59-year-old victim was found suffering from a serious stab wound. He was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries.

SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said “The suspect who was barricaded in his apartment… was finally controlled by the SWAT team.” The 37-year-old suspect was arrested by the tactical squad at approximately 5:45pm, and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

This is the 6th Montreal Homicide in 2021.
