RCMP said 33-year-old Justin Campbell of Deer Lake has been charged with first-degree murder following his arrest on September 8th. Campbell appeared in court today and was remanded into custody, with his next court appearance scheduled for September 11, 2023.

RCMP NL launched an investigation on September 8th after a 69-year-old Deer Lake woman was found deceased in her home. Police believe Campbell killed the victim and stole a large amount of money. He has been charged with first-degree murder, and theft over $5,000. Police said the victim and accused were known to each other.
