Update charges withdrawn against Ali Mian – Halton Region police investigate a fatal shooting on Gibson Crescent in Milton

The Halton Regional Police Service were called to the report of a shooting on Gibson Cres. in Milton, on February 19, 2023, at approximately 5 am.

Police said in a press release, two male suspects attended the home and a number of shots were fired inside the house. Police attended and located one of the suspects deceased. A second suspect and a resident have been taken into custody by police. The identity of the homicide victim has not been confirmed as of yet.

Police believe the shooting was targeted, and the investigation continues. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 905-825-4776.

Update – 22-year-old Ali Mian, who lives in the home with his mother, is facing second-degree murder charges. The victim’s Lawyer Jag Virk said his client “shot at an intruder that broke into his home and attacked his mother. He is a registered firearm owner and used his gun legally against an armed intruder.”

Romario Clarke, 20 of Oshawa – has been charged with one count of Break and Enter, and one count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. Both Mian and Clarke are next scheduled to appear in Milton Court on February 21, 2023. 

Update February 26th
The victim, who was attempting to rob the home has been identified as 21-year-old Alexander Amoroso-Leacock of Toronto. The second suspect, 20-year-old Romario Clarke, is facing charges of break and enter and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Update July 31st, 2023
The Crown has withdrawn the second-degree murder charge against Ali Mian during an appearance at the Milton Ontario Court of Justice on July 31st.
