On the afternoon of Sunday, September 7, 2025, Fredericton Police responded to a sudden death at a home in the downtown Fredericton area.

Following new developments, the case is now being treated as a homicide. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Sonia Vivian Timbre, a resident of Fredericton.

No arrests have been made, but the investigation remains active as police continue to look into the circumstances of the incident.

Authorities believe this was an isolated event and emphasize that there is no threat to public safety.

Update: Aaron Jesse Rice, 45, was arrested by Frederiction police and charged on September 25th with one count of second-degree murder under section 235(1) of the Criminal Code in relation to the death of Ms. Timbre.
