Update Charges Laid – Edmonton Homicide section investigates the suspicious death of a 63-year-old woman

Edmonton police responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 162 Avenue and 52 Street on August 6th at approximately 6:25pm.

On arrival police located an unresponsive 63-year-old female who was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics, and a second injured person. The second person was rushed to the hospital in a life-threatening condition.

An autopsy has yet to be scheduled. Homicide Section detectives continue to investigate.

Update August 8th
Edmonton police announced that the autopsy has been completed and revealed that Kirandeep Grewal, 63, died of a gunshot wound. The manner of death is homicide. Jasbir Grewal, 56, was charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault. Police said both victims and the accused were known to one another, however, they did not elaborate on their relationship.
