Quebec 2026 Homicide Victim List

According to the Sûreté du Québec, officers from the Nunavik Police Service were called to a home in Puvirnituq after the couple’s children became concerned about their mother, Mary Tukalak Iqiquq, who had not been heard from since January 1.

The daughter contacted her brother and they forced entry into the home. Inside, they reportedly found their mother lying on the kitchen floor with visible injuries to her face and head. According to tvanouvelles they allegedly found their father, Lucassie Tukalak, on a bed, holding a weapon under his chin. According to reports he said he wanted to die.

When the victim’s son later returned to the residence, he reportedly discovered the 57-year-old Lucassie Tukalak inside. Police believe he took his own life using a different weapon.

Authorities say the couple had a documented history of domestic violence. The man, Lucassie Tukalak, had previously been convicted in 2022 of assault causing bodily harm against his partner in a spousal context and was later found to have violated the conditions imposed by the court.

Authorities have not released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
