RCMP say a 49-year-old man from Merritt has been charged with second-degree murder following the death of his wife.

Police and paramedics were called to a home in Merritt on Tuesday, Dec. 16, where they found 45-year-old Pamela Jarvis with serious injuries. She was taken to hospital, but later died from those injuries.

A gofundme has been created to help their six young adults/youth financially while they finish school.

According to RCMP, the suspect left the home before officers arrived but was later located and arrested. Christopher Bernard Jarvis remains in custody and was formally charged on Wednesday, the same day as his first court appearance. His next appearance is scheduled for Jan. 6, 2026.
