Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Charge Charlie Denechezhe in Michael Denechezhe Homicide in Wollaston Lake

Police were called to a residence around 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 17 after receiving a report of a deceased man.

RCMP officers responded, confirmed the death, and secured the scene. The man has been identified as a 33-year-old from Wollaston Lake, and his family has been notified.

No further details about his identity have been released. Because the death is considered suspicious, the Major Crimes unit has taken over the investigation.

Investigators arrived in the community on Dec. 18, despite challenging weather and the area’s remote location.

On December 19, RCMP Major Crimes, with support from the Saskatoon Police Service, arrested 60-year-old Charlie Denechezhe in Saskatoon as part of an ongoing investigation.

Following further investigation, Charlie Denechezhe of Wollaston Lake has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 33-year-old Michael Denechezhe.
