Judge rules that Jay Slade was not criminally responsible for his actions – Colin Gill allegedly beheaded at a home near Seeley’s Bay in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township

OPP responded to a two-and-a-half-storey farmhouse at 120 Highway 15 near Seeley’s Bay, on June 2nd at approximately 4:00am, where they found  Colin Gill, 44, deceased (allegedly beheaded), and two others Slade’s mother and sister seriously injured.

OPP said in a press release on June 2nd that Jay Slade, 36, of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, indignity to a dead body and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

The victims and the accused were known to each other and there is no concern for public safety.

Update: On January 15th 2025, Superior Court Justice John Johnston ruled that Jay Slade suffered from a major mental illness that caused him to experience commands to kill Colin Gill. According to CBC “Slade was responding to a “horrible command hallucination” from God to kill Gill in order to prevent “World War III.””
