Calgary police responded to the 14200 block of First Street N.W., for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located one person deceased on Aug. 16, 2024 at approximately 5 p.m.

On arrival police located Hoang Phuoc Dat NGUYEN, 42, deceased. Investigators said the incident is believed to be targeted.

A short time after the shooting was reported, a vehicle fire was reported in Rocky View County, between 176 Avenue and Township Road 264. It is believed the vehicle fire may be related to the shooting.

Anyone who may have seen a black Dodge Caravan traveling north, between the 14200 block of First Street N.W. in Calgary and Township Road 264 in Rocky View County, between 5 and 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024 is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
