North Vancouver RCMP responded to reports of two people who had fallen off of a balcony at an apartment complex in the 100 block of East Esplanade Avenue on August 20, 2024, at 4:30 a.m.
Frontline officers attended and located two females suffering from injuries sustained during the fall. Despite life-saving efforts from both officers and first responders, including North Vancouver City Fire Department and British Columbia Emergency Health Services (BC EHS), both females succumbed to their injuries on scene. The deceased are an adult woman and a school-aged child.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken conduct of the investigation.
Police believe the two were known to one another and are not looking for any other suspects at this time,said Corporal Esther Tupper of IHIT,There is no ongoing risk to the public and this is an isolated incident.
