Update: Victim Identified as Norma-Jean Muirhead – Calgary police investigate the death of a woman in Cranston

Calgary police responded to the 500 block of Cranston Drive S.E., for reports of a medical event on December 2nd at approximately 2:50pm.

On arrival police located a woman unconscious and unresponsive inside a parked vehicle. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. An Autopsy has been scheduled for December 3rd.

Update December 6th
The victim has been identitfied as Norma-Jean Muirhead, 35, of Calgary and B.C, and police believe that the victim was targeted.

“We believe this homicide took place in the victim’s vehicle which was parked in a residential community and someone may have seen the events leading up to, or right after, the victim’s death,” said Staff Sergeant Lee Treit, Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “We are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour or witnessed a disturbance in the area between midnight and 6 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 1, to contact police.”
