Abbotsford police responded to reports of an assault at a home on Eastview Street, near Meadowlands Avenue, on July 28th at approximately 4:45pm.

On arrival police located a 45-year-old woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as Kamaljit Sandhu, 45.

The victim’s husband Inderjit Sandhu was arrested and was charged with first-degree murder.

Update April 21st, 2024
According to CBC Inderjit Singh Sandhu pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of second-degree murder in Abbotsford Supreme Court, on April 19th. Second-degree murder carries an automatic life sentence under the Criminal Code.
