Toronto police are investigating two separate vehicle fires that resulted in the deaths of two people.

The first incident happened Monday, September 21, 2026, at approximately 11:24 p.m., in the Steeles Avenue East and Reesor Road area. Officers responded to reports of a vehicle burning in a field. Emergency crews attended the scene and located a victim inside the vehicle, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Marcus Charles. Police have also released an image of Charles.

A second incident was reported shortly after midnight on Tuesday, September 22, at approximately 12:55 a.m., near Royal York Road and Edenbridge Drive. Police responded to reports of a vehicle on fire in a parking lot. A victim was found inside the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The two deaths are being investigated as Toronto’s 27th and 28th homicides of 2026.
