Edmonton Records 10th Homicide of 2026 After Fatal Stabbing of Zubaria Khan; Fahimah Rahimi Charged

Edmonton police are investigating a homicide after a woman was fatally injured during an altercation in the Hamptons neighbourhood on July 26, 2026.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., West Division officers responded to a report of a disturbance outside a residence. When police arrived, they found a 27-year-old woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital by EMS, where she later died.

A 33-year-old woman was taken into custody at the scene, and the EPS Homicide Section took over the investigation.

An autopsy conducted by the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office on July 27 determined that the victim, identified as Zubaria Khan, died from multiple stab wounds. The death was ruled a homicide.

Fahimah Rahimi, 33, has been charged with second-degree murder. Police say the two women were known to each other and investigators are not searching for any additional suspects.

According to reports, the fatal attack happened at a women’s shelter.
