North Cowichan Duncan RCMP frontline officers were called after several reports of an assault with a weapon in the area of Cowichan Lake Road on March 1st.

Police arrived at the scene to find two men outside of the residence. One man immediately surrendered to the officers, the other was suffering from life-threatening injuries. The 17-year-old injured male was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries. Due to the privacy of the deceased, his identity will not be released..

The accused was taken into police custody without incident where he remains. The identity of the accused will not be released until his charges are sworn in.
