The 2025 Calgary Homicide Victim List is available here
At around 1:20 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, police were called to the 300 block of Abergale Drive N.E. in Calgary following reports of a person in medical distress. When officers arrived, they found a deceased male at the scene.
An autopsy conducted later that day by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the death was a homicide. The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Carter Spivak-Villeneuve of Calgary.
“This is a deeply troubling case given the victim’s young age,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Clark Budd of the Calgary Police Homicide Unit. “We continue to investigate and are asking anyone who may have information about Carter’s movements or who he may have been with before his death to come forward.”
Police are also appealing to residents in the area, particularly those in the 300 block of Abergale Drive N.E., to review any security footage or check for unusual activity between midnight and 1:30 a.m. on Friday.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234 or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
