UPDATE: Woman found dead in Edmonton home

Edmonton Police responded to a medical call in the area of 122 Avenue and 132 Street, at around 4:30, December 22.

Police and EMS arrived to find a woman who had suffered serious injuries. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested a female suspect at the scene, no charges have been laid yet.

This death marks the 41st homicide for Edmonton this year. The 2016 Homicide victim’s list is available here.

Update December 25th:

Edmonton police have identified the victim as 21 year old Rachael Longridge, a recent nursing school graduate. Her mother Christine Longridge has been charged with second degree murder and possession of an offensive weapon. Christine Longridge had been suffering from bipolar disorder for the last 18 years.

Update December 29th:

According to CBC Rachel’s brother Michael 18,  found their mother Christine stabbing Rachael with a knife.
