Quebec 2026 Homicide Victim List

Quebec provincial police are investigating a suspected homicide in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, where authorities are also looking into the disappearance of a local man.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), police were notified Thursday about the disappearance of 67-year-old Mario Poirier, a resident of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts in the Laurentians.

Later that evening, officers discovered the body of a man inside a residence on Godon Street in the community. Police say the circumstances surrounding the death point to a possible homicide.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially confirmed. An autopsy is scheduled for early next week to help establish the exact cause and circumstances of death.

Stéphane Goudreault , aged 57, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder .

According to reports the altercation was over a damaged mobility scooter (quadriporteur). Goudreau was arrested while driving Poirier’s mobility scooter in a nearby wooded area a few days after the crime.
