Manitoba 2026 Homicide Victim List

RCMP are investigating a fatal assault in Shamattawa, Manitoba, after a man died from injuries sustained in an apparent stabbing at the Northern Store.

Police said officers were called to the store at around 3 p.m. on August 28, 2026, following a report of an assault. When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man with serious injuries consistent with a stab wound.

Investigators determined that a male suspect who was known to the victim was still at the scene. He was taken into custody without incident.

The injured man was transported to the community’s nursing station for medical treatment but later died from his injuries.

Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services subsequently travelled to Shamattawa and assumed responsibility for the homicide investigation.

Police have charged 58-year-old Rodney Beardy of Shamattawa with second-degree murder. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Members of Major Crime Services and the RCMP Forensic Identification Services are continuing to gather evidence and investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
