Winnipeg police responded to a call about an unresponsive man in the 600 block of Boyd Avenue on August 5, 2025, just after 7:00 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found 26-year-old Breydon Henry Cadieux-Kwiatkowski of Winnipeg with significant injuries. They provided immediate medical assistance before he was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, he later died from his injuries.

Update: On August 12, Darian Allen Gaige SAM, 27, and David Allen KIRTON, 64, were arrested in connection with a fatal altercation. SAM is charged with manslaughter and violating a release order, while KIRTON allegedly helped him escape. SAM and the victim were previously acquainted.
