Winnipeg Police Service responded to an apartment in the 300 block of Hargrave Street for the report of a seriously injured male on January 25th at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Fire Paramedic Service was first on scene and transported 65-year-old Richard Wheeler to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Anyone with information regarding WHEELER’s death is asked to call investigators in the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Update January 30th
On January 28, 2023, Joy Nancy MOOSE, 31, of Winnipeg, was arrested in relation to the homicide of Richard WHEELER. The accused and the victim were determined to be acquaintances. While Moose was in custody she assaulted one of the homicide detectives and was subsequently charged.

Moose was charged with Second Degree Murder, Assault Peace Officer, and a Warrant for being Unlawfully at Large.
