Update: A Minor and 19-year-old Muhamad Taupan arrested in Peterborough – Windsor Police Search for Suspect in Fatal Shooting on Wyandotte Street East

At around 7 a.m. on January 27, 2025, Windsor police responded to a report of an unknown situation in the 400 block of Wyandotte Street East.

Upon arriving, officers found an unresponsive 53-year-old man who had suffered a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services provided immediate first aid and transported the victim to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators have obtained surveillance images of the suspect who is described as a mixed-race male, approximately 5’3” to 5’5” tall, with a thin build.  At the time of the incident, he had his hair pulled back in braids and was wearing a black North Face brand jacket and black pants with a reflective strip along the thigh. He was later seen with his braids removed, wearing a blue hooded sweater, black pants and red shoes.

Update: The Windsor Police, with the help of the Peterborough Police, have arrested a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old youth in connection with the January 27, 2025, murder of 53-year-old Sean Shuart in Windsor. Police conducted the arrest in the George Street North and Simcoe Street area in Peterborough

The 19-year-old suspect, identified as Muhamad Taupan (also known as “TY”), was located in Peterborough after fleeing Windsor. He was arrested on February 4, 2025, and charged with first-degree murder, along with multiple other drug and weapon-related charges in Peterborough. The 16-year-old was charged with accessory to murder and other offenses related to weapons and trafficking.

  • The teens were taken into custody without incident and during a search of the pair after arrest, officers seized:
  • Replica pellet gun
  • Large, sheathed machete
  • Bear spray
  • 21.5 grams of Fentanyl
  • Pills
  • Canadian currency
  • Digital scales
  • Multiple cell phones
