Pictou County District RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a pick-up truck and a pedestrian at an intersection on Denoon St in Pictou on June 3rd at 9:55pm.

RCMP said the pedestrian, a 56-year-old Pictou man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police have not released his identity at this time.

Vernon Edward Gallant, 40, of Pictou, has been charged with Second Degree Murder. His next appearance will be in Pictou Provincial Court on July 14, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.
