Vancouver Homicide Victim List

Officers were called to the intersection of Granville and Helmcken Streets around 3:15 p.m. on November 17 following reports of a stabbing.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, later died at a hospital.

Update August 19th 2026: Vancouver Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a fatal stabbing on Granville Street last November, after Crown counsel approved a second-degree murder charge.

James Christopher Holmgren was taken into custody yesterday by detectives with the Vancouver Police Homicide Unit.

Police were called to the area of Granville Street and Helmcken Street on November 17, 2025, after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed. The victim, 20-year-old Aymen Al-Hafidh, was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Holmgren remains in custody.
