The St. Thomas Police Service has released an update about the violent assault that took place on August 24, 2025, at a multi-unit residence in the city’s north end.
Duke Wilson, 34, of St. Thomas was originally charged with aggravated assault, two counts of assault, and three counts of breaching probation.
On November 17th, 2025, officers brought Wilson from the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre to St. Thomas Police Headquarters, where he was formally arrested and charged with manslaughter. The upgraded charge follows the death of 65-year-old Hien Nguyen of St. Thomas, who passed away from his injuries on September 12, 2025.
After being processed, Wilson was taken to the Elgin County Courthouse for a hearing and was ordered to remain in custody.
He has been held since the incident in August.
