Toronto police announced the city’s 97th homicide of 2018

On April 13, 2018, police attended a hospital in relation to a case of suspected elder abuse.

Police said it is alleged that 86-year old Joon Kim fell out of a chair on April 9th, and over the next few days another man who lived in the house, did not help him. The man called 911 on April 13th after noticing that the man was unresponsive.

Joon Kim, 86, of Toronto, was pronounced deceased on May 26, 2018. Ji Yong Kim, 52, of Toronto, was arrested and, and originally charged with Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life and Criminal Negligence Cause Death. His charge has been upgraded to Manslaughter.

This case is now Homicide 97th of 2018.
