police responded to a radio call in the Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West area on July 1st, 2021 at approximately 1:00pm.

Police said it is alleged that an 87-year-old man was threatened and assaulted at a property. An 80-year-old woman attempted to intervene and was threatened and then assaulted by the man.

That same day Iourii Starostin, 55, of no fixed address, was arrested. He was charged with:

1. Mischief
2. Uttering Threats
3. Aggravated Assault
4. Assault
5. Uttering Threats
6. Fail to Comply Probation

The 87 year-old victim died of his injuries on July 2nd, and on Monday, August 16, 2021, Iourii Starostin had his charges upgraded. He is now charged with:

1. Second Degree Murder
