The 2021 New Brunswick Homicide Victim List is available here

On August 15, 2021, at approximately 8:40 a.m., members of the Saint-Léonard RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive man on Rue Industrielle in Rivière-Verte, New Brunswick. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a deceased man. The death was determined to be a homicide, and the victim was later identified as 60-year-old Rino St-Pierre of Rivière-Verte.

Following a lengthy investigation, Benjamin Côté, a 44-year-old man, was arrested on August 27, 2023, in Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec. The next day, August 28, 2023, he appeared by tele-remand in Edmundston Provincial Court, where he was charged with first-degree murder and remanded into custody.

Shortly after, on August 29, 2023, Angie Leclerc, a 41-year-old woman from St-Antonin, Quebec, was arrested in St-François Xavier, Quebec, and also charged with first-degree murder in connection with the same case. She was held in custody pending further court proceedings.

On August 22, 2025, Angie Leclerc appeared in the Court of King’s Bench in Edmundston and was sentenced to 10 years in prison for her role in the homicide.

On August 27, 2025, Benjamin Côté was also sentenced in the Court of King’s Bench in Edmundston. He received a life sentence without the possibility of parole for 14.5 years.
