Toronto police responded to a call for a stabbing at Jane Subway Station on June 25, 2024, at 5:53 p.m.
On arrival police located Matthew Rumble, 39, of Toronto, suffering from a stab wound. He was rushed to hospital where he were pronounced deceased.
Investigators said there was an argument between the suspect and victim on a TTC bus. They exited the bus at Jane station in the bus bay area, where there was a physical altercation between the suspect and the victim. The fight escalated, and the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the area on foot with an unknown female.
The suspect is described as male, black, 5’9″- 5’11”, with a thin build. The person of interest is described as female, white, blonde hair, with a thin build.
Update: On Thursday, July 4, 2024, with the assistance of Waterloo Regional Police, the suspects were located in Waterloo and arrested.
Tefai Silva Opoku-Boadu, 22, of Kitchener, has been charged with:
- Second Degree Murder

Mackenzie Hargrave, 19, of Warminster, has been charged with:
- Accessory After The Fact to Murder
