Cape Breton Regional Police were called to a home on September 1st at around 4 p.m. on the report of an altercation between two men.
On arrival police located a 40-year-old man suffering from a stab wound. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. Police have not released the name of the deceased at this time.
Richard Troy Boutilier who was known to the victim was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, and a charge of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The accused will appear in Sydney provincial court on Sept. 16.
