Calgary 2023 Homicide Victim List is available here

Calgary police confirmed on August 7th that human remains discovered earlier this year belong to Robert Stanley Mainland, also known as Bobby or Bubbles, who went missing in January 2023. His death is now being investigated as a homicide.

Robert was last seen near a 7-Eleven in the 5300 block of 17 Avenue S.E. in the Forest Lawn area. In May 2024, remains were found at an undisclosed location outside Calgary. Due to their condition, it took several months to confirm the identity.

Following further investigation, police now believe Robert was the victim of foul play.

“Robert’s family has spent more than two years waiting for answers,” said Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn of the CPS Homicide Unit. “We are following every lead and encourage anyone with even the smallest detail to come forward. It could be the key to solving this case.”

If you have any information about Robert’s death or his disappearance, you’re urged to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
