On July 21, 2025, Princeton RCMP found 41-year-old Kyle Schmunk in medical distress inside a brown 2002 Toyota Corolla just north of Princeton. Despite efforts by paramedics, Schmunk died from his injuries. His death is now being treated as a homicide, and the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation.

Police are asking the public for help in tracing Schmunk’s movements on July 21, particularly between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. along Highway 5A north of Princeton. Anyone with information, dashcam footage, or video surveillance is urged to contact the RCMP Major Crime Unit at 1-877-987-8477.
