Ontario Provincial Police responded to a home on Blind Creek Drive late Monday night, around 10:50 p.m. on July 14th.

On arrival police located 54-year-old Shelley Marconi of Shuniah deceased. Police have charged 26-year-old Kyle Barry, also of Shuniah and believed to be Marconi’s stepson, with second-degree murder.

Barry remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday in Thunder Bay.

The investigation is being led by the OPP’s North West Region crime unit, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch. They are receiving support from the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and the OPP’s forensic identification team.
