New Westminster homicide victim identified as Lionel Lawrence who police say is linked to Lower Mainland gang conflict.

New Westminster Police Department responded to an altercation on Bole Street between 10th Street and Maple Street on October 22nd at approximately 9:20 p.m.

Police arrived to find 23-year-old Lionel Lawrence suffering from stabbing injuries. Lawrence was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital where he died of his injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said Lawrence is known to police and is linked to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict. Homicide investigators believe that there are two suspects involved, and both suspects fled the scene in a dark coloured vehicle travelling south on 10th Street.

“We know there were other witnesses in the area,” said IHIT Sgt. David Lee. “Their information is important and we encourage them to come forward and do the right thing.”
