Update: Teen charged in Saanich BC – Toronto Homicide #71 – Toronto Cab driver Christopher Jung, dies in hospital of multiple gunshot wounds while on duty

Toronto Police Service received a call for a taxi cab that had collided with a fence in the Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East area on October 24th at 8:48pm.

Police arrived to find the cab driver Christopher Jung, 73, of Toronto, unconscious and alone in the vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Jung was rushed to hospital via emergency run where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Police said a man wearing dark clothing was seen running away from the area. Anyone with dash cam footage or surveillance footage are asked to contact homicide investigators at 416-808-7400.

Update February 5th
Toronto police announced that on Friday, January 28, 2022, a 17-year-old male was arrested by the Saanich Police Department in British Columbia. The accused was held for the Toronto Police Service, and charged with Second Degree Murder.
