Update: Charged Laid – New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit investigates the fatal shooting of a man in Lincoln

The Oromocto and Keswick RCMP detachments and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a roadside firearm-related incident near the 2300 block on Route 102 in Lincoln on March 12, 2023, at approximately 4:10 a.m.

The 27-year-old male victim was located with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. Cpl. Dan Sharpe with the New Brunswick RCMP said “This is also believed this to be an isolated incident.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident has information about the incident, or who may have been in the area with dash-cam or other video footage between 2 a.m, and 5 a.m. on March 12, 2023, is asked to contact the Major Crime Unit at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267).

Update
On April 22, a 47-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested without incident by the RCMP and Fredericton Police Force, in connection with the homicide, at a business on Union Street, in Fredericton, N.B.

On April 23, Joshua Raines and Samantha Butler appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court and were charged with one count each of second degree murder. Both individuals were remanded into custody and are scheduled to return to court on April 24, 2023.
