Two teachers and two teenagers were gunned down January 23 in La Loche. A 17 year boy old is in custody facing four charges of first degree murder.
Brothers Dayne and Drayden Fontaine, aged 17 and 13, were found shot their home. Marie Janvier 21, daughter of the acting mayor worked as a T.A in the high school, died when the shooter entered the school and opened fire. Teacher Adam Wood 35, was also shot and died in the health centre.
Many others were wounded in the shooting. The nightmare lasted 15 minutes before RCMP officers arrived and were able to subdue the teen shooter.
Update May 11th
The shooter, who killed four and injured seven, won’t be eligible for parole for 10 years. Judge Janet McIvor called the shootings “senseless” and “coldly horrific.”
