The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said police were called to a neighbourhood disturbance in the 11800 block of 239 Street in Maple Ridge, B.C on July 23, 2025, at around 6:40 p.m. Hours later, around 10:51 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to reports of a vehicle fire and a break-and-enter at the same location, with subsequent calls indicating that gunshots had been fired.
When officers arrived, they discovered two vehicles and a garage on fire. Inside the home, police found two people and a dog dead. The suspect was believed to be armed and located in a nearby residence. With assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team, officers entered the neighbouring home and found another person deceased.
IHIT has taken over the investigation into the two deaths at the first residence. The Independent Investigations Office has also been notified to examine the actions of police during the incident.
IHIT continues to work alongside Ridge Meadows RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service. Early findings suggest the event was targeted and stemmed from a dispute between neighbours who knew one another. No suspects are currently outstanding.
The two individuals found dead in the first home were identified as a man and a woman in their 60s. According to reports, they were a couple.
“This was a tragic incident that has had a significant impact on the families, community, and first responders,” said Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi of IHIT. “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of those who have passed.”
