RCMP were called to a fire just before 7:30 a.m. in the 20500 block of 56 Avenue, located in downtown Langley.

After firefighters put out the blaze, they discovered a body in a second-floor apartment above street-level businesses.

Update: Police have identified the deceased as 47-year-old Tyler Smith and said he had only recently moved to the area before the fire.
