Hamilton police responded to the report of a shooting at approximately 4:30pm on September 24th Cannon Street between Barnesdale Avenue North and Lottridge Street.

An adult male was located with vital signs absent. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Hamilton police said 18-year-old Yua Blut Kaw of Hamilton was walking when a dark-colored four-door sedan approached him. Multiple shots were fired from the car, striking the victim.

Major crimes has taken over the investigation. Information will be updated as it becomes available. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det David Tsuchida at 905-546-4123.

Update:
On Thursday, June 9, 2022, Hamilton Police arrested three people in relation to the homicide of Yua Blut Kaw. With the assistance of the Ottawa Police Service, search warrants were executed in both the Hamilton and Ottawa areas.

The accused, Nejib Ahmed Nour, 27, of Hamilton, a 17-year-old male youth of Hamilton, and Abdaziz Ibrahim Omer, 20, of Hamilton have all been charged with First-Degree-Murder.
