File Hills First Nations Police Service responded to a report of sudden deaths at a residence on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation on February 4, 2025, at approximately 11:15 a.m.
On arrival, officers discovered four deceased individuals at the scene.
Police said the initial investigation suggested that the residence may have been targeted. As a result, the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
The deaths are being treated as homicides, with evidence indicating that the residence may have been deliberately targeted.
The deceased victims are identified as:
34-year-old Tracey Hotomani of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation
44-year-old Sheldon Quewezance of Zagime Anishinabek
51-year-old Terry Jack of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation
47-year-old Shauna Fay of Indian Head
Update: on February 18th Saskatchewan RCMP charged a 15-year-old male youth with four counts of first-degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code in relation to the deaths of Tracey Hotomani, Sheldon Quewezance, Shauna Fay and Terry Jack.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes also located and arrested 18-year-old Darrius Racette in Yorkton, SK on February 18, 2025. Darrius Racette is facing four counts, first-degree murder.
The investigation has determined the homicide victims were injured by firearm. We are investigating the deaths as homicides. Initial investigation suggests the residence may have been targeted. Anyone with information is asked to contact Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
