The 2023 Edmonton homicide victim list is available here
Edmonton police said on Tuesday, Mar. 7, 2023, a five-month-old baby girl was admitted to the Stollery Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the following day Child Protection Section initiated an investigation into the injuries.
The infant died of her injuries on March 11th. An autopsy was completed and on March 16th the Edmonton Medical Examiner announced the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and the manner of death is homicide.
Update On Thursday, Apr. 13, 2023, police arrested a 30-year-old woman, the infant’s mother, and charged her with second degree murder in the March 11 death.
EPS Homicide detectives are working together with EPS Child Protection Section in this investigation. Police will not be releasing any other information at this time.
